Accu-Tax Consulting Corp opened for business in 1992.

After spending 4 1/2 years working for a large national accounting firm Ron Hewitt felt it was a better fit to leave his position there to start his own firm. Operating a smaller firm allows us to maintain a closer working relationship with our customers. The tax industry is constantly evolving and it’s much easier for us to adapt than it is for large firms.

Our focus is small corporations – family businesses which are incorporated. In addition we’re certainly glad to take care of the personal tax returns for the shareholders and other family members. We primarily serve the Calgary area but also have several customers in other provinces.

It is nice to draw from larger numbers when it comes to tax research and technical support. So in 1993 we linked up with twenty other owners of accounting firms from across Canada to form the SOMA Consulting Group. This allows us the best of both worlds – a smaller office with the backing of many firms across Canada.
